In 2006, seeking Christians from McKinney and Allen started to meet in the home of a brother in Fairview, Texas. Following this start, and as a result of strong prayers from the church in Plano, more seekers of the Lord from Frisco and Prosper began to meet with the church in Plano. From this, home meetings were established in McKinney and Frisco in addition to a Spanish speaking meeting.
In 2012, the group of saints from these four places began to meet as District 5 of the church in Plano. We also actively began to pursue to find a meeting hall in McKinney. By The Lord’s mercy and grace we began to meet at a hotel in August of 2013. After the first meeting we realized that we had outgrown the capacity there. This sparked an even stronger prayer and we were able to purchase a meeting hall to meet the need of The Lord.
We moved in and met for the first time in the new meeting hall on June 8, 2014 with some saints from Plano joining us.
On September 14, 2014 we celebrated taking the ground with over 600 saints from other localities including Dallas, Ft Worth, Arlington, Waco, Odessa, Irving, Richardson, Plano and Anaheim California. This was a strong testimony of a new shining lamp stand in McKinney. Today, we have over 100 believers meeting in McKinney. There are 4 small group meetings that meet weekly. The saints have the same heart to preach the gospel and build up the Body of Christ.
Through the ministry of the New Testament and the ministries of brother Watchman Nee and brother Witness Lee we have seen that the crucial need in the Lord’s move today is the building up of the Body of Christ. We believe that the practice of the following four key principles is essential to the carrying out of this burden:
- Begetting new believers (Matt. 28:19),
- Nourishing the new believers (1 Thes. 2:7-12),
- Perfecting all the believers for the work of the ministry (Eph. 4:12-13), and
- Prophesying by all the members to build up the church (1 Cor. 14:4-5, 12, 26).
The meetings of the church in McKinney are open to all, and we welcome the opportunity to fellowship with all those who are genuinely seeking the truth. Our prayer is that we would be counted as faithful stewards and ministers of the divine riches of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (Eph. 3:7-8), and that we would be those holding to truth in love and growing up into Him in all things who is the Head, Christ (Eph. 4:15).
